This was my second year tabling at the Alternative Press Expo (a mini comic-con for artists & indie comics).  If you’ve been to APE you know how HARD it is to walk around without feeling overwhelmed.  There are SO MANY wonderful booths there.  So when my friend & booth-mate Jessica and I finally got a chance to walk around this year, and our eyes kept drawing towards Nothing Obvious (no pun intended), I knew how special they were.

This week I want to highlight this wonderful lady / designer that I met this year at the Alternative Press Expo.  Her line NO features fashion-forward graphic tees (and more!).  I am particularly fond of all of her moon-inspired graphics (I want everything moon related right now).  You can buy NO locally at the Oakland’s own Resurrect, a boutique specializing in small-run, hand-made goods.

Featured below is the Plume Circle tunic – which I bought because it reminds me of a beautiful swath of wheat adorning the neckline like jewels.  But just like Levar Burton, you don’t have to take my word for it, check out more of her beautiful designs HERE.

Love you, mean it

profile picMegan Lynn Kott – She was from Oakland by way of the Midwest.  Megan holds a BFA of Art & Social Change in one hand & a cat in the other.  She is a animal-loving, coffee-swilling, water-coloring, appreciator of grit.  When she isn’t designing children’s clothing graphics she is drawing creatures.  Her project “Costume for the Day” (inspired by the documentary “Grey Gardens”) is an effort to create a watercolor diary of what she wears (almost) everyday.  She hopes to capture every hole, stain & worn-out sole, instead of the requisite “selfie” in most fashion blogs.  Her other recurring projects include “Oakland Drink & Draw” and her Tumblr: “Drawing Megan Lynn.”
