We are fast approaching September 21st. The day summer officially ends. Sad face. But, I’m going to grasp on to all the memories of summer…and then display them…on my face. With makeup! Maybe I’m not ready for you to dictate my look change, yet, Fall. Maybe I’m not ready to embrace the pale and rock the deep burgundy lips. I’m not ashamed to say it. I’m not!
Le’me show you the look I’m just not ready to say goodbye to. I guess we can call it “The Bronzed Goddess”. Or something less cliche and lame…I let you know if I figure out what that is.
With only mascara and foundation on, good grief, so pale and looking ready for Fall. UM. Nope. NOT IF I CAN HELP IT. It’s bronzer time. I know I’ve told you the best way to apply bronzer before, but allow me to show you with pictures!
Bronzer Step 1: Under the cheekbones. I smile in at myself in the mirror to make sure I see where that is.
Bronzer Step 2: Starting at the corners of your forehead, make a “3” from your forehead to your jaw bone.
Bronzer Step 3: Dust either side of your chin.
Bronzer Step 4: Dust the bridge of your nose. Making a weird face is not mandatory for correctly achieving this, but it is recommended.
Look how much more golden and summery! We are well on our way to continuing our summer glow! Ok, moving on.
(DISCLAIMER: I had to move into a different room because the sun was setting and the lighting sucked. But, then the lighting sucked just because…you know…lamps…whatever next tutorial I promise will be natural light all the way. Pls don’t be mad.)
Brows: You know my sentiment on brows: Go big/bold or go home. This applies to every and all looks. No exception!
Blush: A nice warm rosy blush like BareMinerals Blush in True will perfect the sunkissed look. By dusting it on the apples of your cheeks, cheekbones, and the tip of your nose, it adds a cute “Oops, I stayed in the sun for just slightly too long” aspect to the look. And again, the weird face is not mandatory….
So, now that the steps to achieve the sunkissed skin are finished, I like to dab my skin with a tissue. It gets rid of that extra and unnecessary foundation that sits on top of your skin and gets all shiny.
Alriiiight! Now for the fun part. Eyes.
I’m using two different colors of Laura Mercier’s Caviar Stick: Sandglow (a beautiful shimmery bronze) and Cocoa (a deep shimmery chocolate). But, using your bronzer as an eyeshadow will work well too! With the Sandglow, I color my entire lid and under my lower lash line. I’m going bold because I’m going out tonight with the beautiful Tamara Copes and she keeps me on my beauty toes (#datsociallifedoe)!
Next, I apply the Cocoa close to my upper lash line and blend out. I sunset it, if you will.
Then, black mascara on the top and bottom lashes. For day, black mascara on the bottom lashes is probably a little much.
Here’s the final product with my eyes. Looove me some sassy Earth toned eye looks. Mmm!
Ooookaaaay time to make the finishing touches to this look. Using the Ben Nye Powder Puff, I press and roll Ben Nye’s Translucent Powder in Fair onto my skin to set my makeup. It’s theatre makeup, I know, but it’s my favorite setting powder out there.
I’ve recently become obsessed with Sephora’s MicroSmooth Baked Luminizer in Light Beam. It gives a lovely golden shimmer and works perfectly to add a glow to this look. I dust that on right above my cheekbones and along my brow bone. See, so when you turn to the side like that, it shimmers! Seeee?!
For this last step, we’re going to appeal to your sense of smell.
Organix Coconut Water Weightless Hydration Oil smells like summer. Sweet, warm and coconutty. Yummm. And you’re hair will smell like this for the entire day! This whole time I’ve been putting my hair up in a loose bun and taking it down again so it will dry with little beachy rumples.
Objective achieved! By now, I’m sure you look and smell just like summer. Keep out your crop tops, short shorts and maxis…let’s stretch this summer out for as long as we can!
