Ohmygod yaaaaaass! I get so excited about awards season that it feels like it’s Hollywood’s very own you-survived-the-holidays gift to me. Thank you, Hollywood. I did survive the holidays, but just barely so thanks for, so far, making the red carpets this awards season extra special. The 2015 Golden Globes didn’t have a lot of beauty risks, but the classics were in full force and on their A-game. Here were the biggest beauty trends at the 2015 Golden Globes!
Fresh Faced Ladies
This was the biggest trend of the night and I was sooo happy about it! There are few better accessories to a gorgeous dress than a natural and fresh look.
These gold accented eye looks were some of my favorite of the night. Gold eye shadow is lovely because it heightens your look while keeping it natural. Apparently, the blondes and redheads were just killin’ it in this department.
A classic. The smokey eye and nude lip duo never ceases to wow. It’s goddamn timeless and looks amazing no matter what age or skin tone or outfit! I mean, c’mon…these are four very different looks. But, all united by DEM SMOKEY EYES DOE. Also, I’d like to go on record to say that I am not a fan a J-Lo’s look and I do not condone it by any means. It’s just an example. You can oversmoke…and, boy howdy, that is an oversmoked smokey eye.
Bright Lipped Lasses
I love this look but…it, I guess, was dominated by the blondes of Hollywood. And Lorde. Because Lorde do what Lorde want and Lorde look good doin’ it.
My Top Four Favorite Looks
- Lupita Nyong-o.
Her eyes! Her dress! Her eyes and her dress! Her skin! Swoooooon. Lupita, Lupita, Lupita. That is all.
- Emma Stone.
She looks so ethereal. Like a beautiful alien princess. Her eyes are bold, but soft at the same time. HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN.
- Anna Kendrick.
Oh God I love this so much. It’s sooooooooo*breathes*oooooooo romantic. She looks like a goddamn French painting from the 1700’s.
- Keira Knightley.
Her dress was garbage, but she is the queen of the brown smokey eye and we must all bow down. Plus, that berry lip? Yes, please and thank you!
I loved Keira’s look so much, I thought I’d tried my hand at it. Unfortunately, the lighting did not do the detail or colors justice…so I kind of just look like a smizing zombie.
Don’t hold it against me. I think I may have other charming qualities…
