Music Monday, 5/30: Michael Kiwanuka, Chloe x Halle, Kishi Bashi and Charles Bradley
This week’s Music Monday has a lot going on. Psychedelic, soul and indie rock all sneak into this super eclectic mix. Charles Bradley and Unknown Mortal Orchestra both provide incredibly fresh takes on two famous Grateful Dead songs, “Cumberland Blues” and “Shakedown Street.” Somewhat dormant ’80s music star Debbie Gibson makes a super catchy cameo on Big Black Delta’s track “RCVR.”
To close Asian American Pacific Islander Month, we show some love to artists Shawn Lee, Kishi Bashi, Yuna, Jhene Aiko and Zee Avi. Two incredible teenagers (who happen to be Beyonce’s goddaughters), Chloe x Halle, grace the playlist with their deeply mature skills. Puerto Rican singer and composer <<ILE>> makes a break from Calle 13, in which she sang with her two step-brothers, with a solo track.
There’s so much good stuff on here. You’re just going to have to listen for yourself:
