Astrology for Feminists: Week of June 12-19
Astrology for Feminists: Venus is on the Move
June is usually the spark of the summer season, the moment where spring days melt into heat, sun and fun with friends and family. This summer season, however, has (astrologically speaking) gotten off to a damp start. We have had a lot of planets squaring each other. A square is a tense aspect that can feel like you are being pulled apart, stretched or strengthened.
This week will bring some changes. We have Venus entering Cancer June 17. This will feel warm, luxurious and inviting. Cancer is ruled by the Moon, so between now and July 12, you will really be able to use the Moon cycles to get in touch with your inner feminine. This would be a great time to view your emotions through a lens of encouragement and self-compassion. Venus in Cancer will slant our thinking, allowing us to have greater sense of sympathy and empathy for other people.
Mercury will also be entering Gemini, a sign it loves to be in. This should make communications flow a lot more easily. Be on the lookout for new-found interests in writing, reading and talking. This is a great time to level up your intellectual pursuits, start a blog or dream diary as well.
Dreams are especially important this week as Neptune, the planet of dreams and dreaminess, will retrograde on the 14th. Neptune in Pisces retrograde will most certainly put a churn on your dream life in an attempt to reveal things you may have been missing.
Aries: Venus has been helping you in your communication sector for a while, but now she will travel to your fourth house of home and family. Venus in Cancer in this position loves to be comfortable. Starting Friday, the next few weeks would be an optimal time to put some loving thought into your home space. You’re on the go a lot, but you need to create a lair that you can recharge and work creatively in. This is the week to begin that process!
Taurus: Venus will be moving into your third house of communications this week. This transit is going to ease some rough spots that you may have been having in your social sector, either because they were hazy, unclear or just not communicated properly. Neptune will go retrograde on Tuesday, so be very aware that this will directly affect your eleventh house of community and friends. Take the time to properly draw boundaries and make sure you get clear on what other people are saying to you before you react.
Gemini: Mercury, your ruler, has just entered your sign! Finally it will feel like your communications are coming across the way you want and need them to. Personal and professional relationships that have been feeling heavy will start to feel more fluid again. Professional projects involving the written and spoken word will also start to feel like they are finally coming together. Venus will be moving in to your second house of self-worth and self-esteem, giving you major life in these areas.
Cancer: Venus enters your sign this Friday! This is beautiful news for you, manifesting a positive emotional slant on relationships and a feeling of comfort. You should feel extra connected to your emotions — and could even do a ritual to keep yourself balanced in your emotions for the rest of the summer. Cancer is traditionally ruled by the Moon, and you feel every Moon cycle in your heart and emotions. Getting in sync with these cycles will help maximize your everyday experience. This Venus transit is an auspicious time to start.
Leo: Mercury entered Gemini, the sign it rules, this past Sunday. At that moment, it also moved into your eleventh house. If there were any aspects of your social life or community at large that were moving slowly, you should expect a shift this week. Venus moves into your twelfth house of the unconscious mind — so expect a shift around spiritual practices, therapeutic or psychoanalytical work or releasing unconscious blocks on your own through yin yoga, reading and journaling. Just remember to stay open!
Virgo: Mercury entered your tenth house of career Sunday, so expect a shift in communications in your professional life. Conversations that may have seem forced, tired or stalled will begin to breathe with new life. There will be a sense of renewal and focus in all professional areas of the written or spoken word. Maximize this energy and put it to good use. Venus will enter your eleventh house of friendships, bringing friends and community into the spotlight for the next few weeks. If you have had goals here, now would be a good time to put them out in the world.
Libra: The Moon is in your sign Monday, Tuesday and early Wednesday, so be sure to up the self-care and go slow and easy on yourself and others. Check in with yourself before you react. Mercury moving into your ninth house of higher learning and education is screaming at you to finally take that class or webinar you’ve been thinking about. You will learn something special. Venus will grace your tenth house of career, so now would be a great time to look for a new job or continue your professional development. Especially if it means taking more classes!
Scorpio: The Moon will be in your sign Wednesday, Thursday and early Friday. Use this time to up the self-care ante and check in with yourself around emotions and vulnerability. Where can you create better boundaries? Where can you take better care of yourself? With Mars retrograde in your sign, you have the chance to re-work and revise as much as you want in your life. Mercury will move into your eighth house of sex and the occult, so expect a positive shift in communications there that could be extremely enlightening. Just remember to hold proper space for yourself and your partner (or partners).
Sagittarius: The Moon will be in your sign all weekend, making it a good time to do something special for yourself, or to plan something you want to do. Take your friends and family on an adventure you create — even if it’s just in your own home! Mercury will move into the sign it rules, Gemini, in your relationships sector, finally bringing some clarity and ease around talking with your partner, lovers and friends. Venus moves into your eighth house, which typically rules sex, so be ready for some positive changes in your sexual life as well. Just remember to stay open and caring.
Capricorn: Venus will be moving into your seventh house of relationships this Friday, Capricorn, and that’s great news for you and your partner. This will give you the ability to ease some of your rigidity when it comes to romance. You might catch yourself being extra sensitive, caring or romantic the next few weeks. Your first reaction might be a negative one, or one of discomfort. The challenge will be letting yourself accept where your emotions are going and being open enough to go with the flow. Think about how this new attitude can benefit your relationships.
Aquarius: Mercury moved into your fifth house of fun and romance Sunday, Aquarius, which means you will be looking at some fresh energy over the next few weeks. Expect great conversations, opportunities for dating galore and smoother times out and about with all the people in your life. Venus will be moving into your sixth house of daily work and routines, which will give you some help executing the healthy habits you’ve been working hard on for the past few months. You’ve done a lot of hard work in this area, and now you will start to see some serious fruit from your labor.
Pisces: Venus is moving into your fifth house of fun and romance, which means if you are dating or paired up you will enjoy some amplified positive vibes and more fun! Take advantage of the energy by paying extra attention to your dating life and partners. The Moon in Scorpio, which meets up with Mars retrograde Wednesday through Friday, should challenge you to get back to learning about something you love. It may really help you as Saturn continues to re-shape your career expectations, needs and wants. What do you really want to do for career, Pisces? Picking up a book or taking a class might really help you figure it out.
