Astrology for Feminists: Week of Aug. 15-22
The big news this week is the full Moon lunar eclipse in Aquarius on Thursday at 2:27 a.m. Pacific Time. While this eclipse won’t be visible to us, we can still feel its powerful impact in our day-to-day lives. As always, this is a powerful time to bring to culmination your new Moon intentions and spells, and continue to set intentions and ritual in that direction. It’s also a great full Moon for an upgrade — and if you feel called to let something go so you can call something new in, go for it!
Aquarius is a fluid and intellectual air sign that represents personal power, individuality, freedom, social justice, change and humanitarian efforts. Expect some shifts this week and some urges to individuate and do your own thing. Read below to see how it will be affecting your zodiac sign and what to expect.
Aries: This week you might feel a sudden urge to restructure your friends and what you think of as your social life. You might be feeling like you need to mix it up a bit and meet with new people and share new ideas, or you might feel the urge to turn away from the fray and look at who you actually want in your circle and who makes you feel less-than. The energy this week is powerful for you, Aries, — it will allow you to upgrade the parts of your social life that need it, and to transition into something that makes you feel more socially aware and capable of helping others. You have the opportunity to make new friends this week and discover new interests, if you take a chance. This is a great week to attend meet-ups, volunteer or send out emails to people you’ve always wanted to connect with.
Taurus: This week you might feel a powerful shift in your ideas and direction involving career and what you do for a living. You might be called to entertain choosing a path that involves helping a cause or causes, or to give back in some way. You could have some great opportunities pop up around finding what truly makes you happy in your career. You could have some powerful realizations in what you choose to dedicate your time to and what your life path will be. It may feel very sudden and intense; realizations might hit you extra hard or opportunities might come rolling in very quickly. Don’t be overwhelmed; just lovingly hold space for your feelings and start to map out a plan for what you want to create. Take notes!
Gemini: This Thursday’s full Moon in Aquarius is going to possibly feel like a lightening bolt to your intellect and activate your thirst for knowledge. The Lunar energies are trying to direct you to reading, exploring and learning about the topics you feel contribute to your higher learning. All this week would be a great time to claim time for reading, studying and cruising through art books and galleries. You might feel a sudden need to pick up where you left off on certain projects, and this newfound wanderlust for learning might find you needing solo time for yourself. It’s OK to need space and give yourself over to studying what makes you feel powerful and impassioned. Go for it!
Cancer: This full Moon might affect you more than some of the other signs, so you might want to weave an extra self-care theme into your entire week. You could be feeling uncomfortable or irritated around your personal power, your sexuality and personal transformation. You’ve been going through a lot of expansion and growth this past year, Cancer, and this full Moon could show you where it’s super important to throw up boundaries and keep communications around sex, money, and power crystal clear. If you have shared finances and debt in the picture, make sure to get really clear on what you will continue to allow and what you want to dismiss out of your life. Really take a moment to examine your needs and what you need to feel in your highest power and for the greatest good of your true self. Transformation is not only possible this week, it’s inevitable.
Leo: This Thursday is a big full Moon for you and your relationships, Leo. You might feel suddenly where you need to fulfill your independence in a relationship, or you might feel a need to momentarily pull back from a situation or relationship to explore yourself and your desires and needs. If you use the Lunar energies to meditate on this, you might uncover some really helpful truths about yourself and how you function in relationships. If you’ve been feeling like you haven’t been able to forge a real identity in your relationships, this full Moon could bring about a sea change. Clear communication with yourself, and then with others would be a helpful path through these changes and finding the freedom and autonomy you deserve. This may not necessarily be marking an ending for you; it may just be a shift in how you relate to others and what you allow in your personal one-on-one relationships.
Virgo: This full Moon may very well bring a sudden urge or need to create a structure of independence around your daily routines and habits. You might find yourself restructuring the day-to-day tasks and rituals that you need to make yourself happy (such as how and when you drink tea or coffee, run errands, exercise, meditate, reflect, journal and when and how you cook meals, etc.) You could find yourself in the midst of a very sudden independent streak, where you might need to isolate to really feel good and happy in these structures. If you don’t have any routines, this full Moon might just jumpstart you to find some that make you feel like you’re upgrading your life. It might even look like new technology that makes your day and yourself run better and faster. Be open to opportunities to upgrade your lifestyle and see where it takes you.
Libra: This week you are apt to feel a massive spark of FUN happening in your life. The placement of this full Moon is going to open up the energies for you to be able to let loose and have new and interesting things happen around you! You can expect the unexpected — new modes of engagement through leisure activities could pop up for you all over the place. The more open you are to recognizing occasions to have fun the better, but you could also be taken aback by what comes up — or even what you find fun. You might really be surprised by your sources of happiness and entertainment, but if you’re open, you will be able to see through a new lens what makes you really happy. Take this as a golden time to redefine fun!
Scorpio: This full Moon eclipse on Thursday could spark a need to do a massive technological makeover on your home. I’m talking about the things you know you need in your home that make you feel comfortable and happy, but leveled up futuristic style. Like sheets that react with your body temperature, or an alarm clock that wakes you up with the sound of trickling water, LED lights for your bedroom or new temperature-resistant cookware.Think home makeover, but with an almost sci-fi twist! These may be extreme examples, but if you investigate where your technology needs an upgrade, you might actually be seeing it more as in investment in yourself, which is super important. Do you need a new laptop, phone or camera? How about new cookware, shower head or desk space? This week would be a great time to make the leap, especially if you’re thinking outside the box.
Sagittarius: With the full Moon this Thursday, you might feel a sudden and radical shift in your communications style this week, and also possibly around freedom of communication. Do you feel that your social, cultural or intellectual thoughts need to come out more, or maybe need to be refined and backed by personal confidence? It might be time to do finally fine-tune your skills so that you’re able to clearly be you and stand in your power with anyone, at any moment. It’s no small task, but it’s something you’ve been working on a while now. This week, you get a blast of energy to help you feel free about who you are and how you wear your voice in this world.
Capricorn: This week you may be thinking about your self-worth, how you make money and who you work for, and your ideals and philosophy behind who you are and what you do. You have an opportunity to envision a higher version of yourself and abundance this week, and all it takes is a little imagination and confidence in all the knowledge you’ve accrued thus far to get you where you are today. Reach out to or check in with mentors, old bosses, people in your industry you admire, or those going after their dreams. Listen to the valuable advice that could be floating around as you come to certain realizations about who you are and how you can help this world. Don’t worry about acting on anything yet. Just lovingly observe, listen and take notes.
Aquarius: This full Moon is happening in your sign, Aquarius, and you can use it as a sign that you’ve reached a new checkpoint, or that you’ve leveled up in your personal achievements. Use this week to take stock of how far you’ve come in the past six to 12 months and take pride in your achievements. Understand that you need to be your own biggest champion. As you have more and more opportunities to help others, you need a firm cornerstone of self-nurturance to make your operations run smoothly. Be listening for powerful insights into who you are and what you really want out of life this week. Take notes and thank yourself for showing up! Draw out a roadmap of what you want to do next, and have the self-confidence to know you can do anything you put your mind too.
Pisces: This full Moon in Aquarius might strike like a thunderbolt to the part of you that is creative, artistic and social-justice oriented. If you’ve been feeling social lately, this week the full Moon could deeply affect your need to connect to your truths concerning personal engagement on a humanitarian level. In addition, you may experience a sudden need to meditate or explore the deeper parts of your psyche and how they relate to the rest of the universe. Use this spark to navigate and create some structure in the deep areas of your mind. It’ll help you unpeel the many layers that create your everyday thoughts and the actions you take because of them. Ground yourself with your breath, observe your thoughts in this state and feel how you feel in your body and mind. Hold on to that and use it throughout the week, over and over again.
