Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. No, not because I get to sit and have uncomfortable conversation with my family for hours, but because it’s actually one of the few times in the year I can rally up my girlfriends for a night out (and without being expected to bring a gift=win.) A pretty typical post thanksgiving dinner outing usually consists of meeting each other at someone’s parent’s house, stuffing ourselves with even more food, followed by wobbling out the door in our highest of heels, one by one.

For this holiday weekend, we decided to get schmancy and attend a dinner/dance boat cruise in SF. I recently just purged my closet and let go of a lot of goodies, so I headed to my favorite store in the neighborhood ISO a good cocktail dress.  A Diva’s Closet, located on 17th an Broadway is my go to spot when I’m looking to dress up a casual outfit with a little bling, stocking up on chic new pairs of yoga pants to help me get into my Vinyasa flow, or when I need to find the perfect little black dress. Located just down the street from 19th street BART for the past 12 years, owner Gertha Hays personally selects all the items that come into the store, capturing the artistic feel of Oakland through fashion. Choosing items she calls “sophisticated sexy,” you’ll leave feeling like a million bucks without breaking your budget. Also, unlike other stores, there’s no size discrimination here, Gertha has a Diva’s Plus line that runs to 2x. Here are three of my favorite holiday looks from my recent trip to A Diva’s Closet.

Look 1-A casual dinner with the family

If you want something comfortable and *forgiving* for a casual Turkey dinner with the fam, try these knit leggings ($20.00) and Fuzzy Tunic ($30.00)
I felt so cozy and comfy in this fit, I  sat on that couch for about a good half hour like that, sipping on complimentary sangria- see it in the back?- (yes y’all-EVERY Friday enjoy ‘Sip N Shop’ complimentary cocktails and appetizers!)

Look 2-Tofurkey dinner with fellow hippie friends

For a more dressed up casual look, while still maintaining a level of comfortability, try these high waist damaged jeans ($40.00) with a simple grey turtleneck that has a zipper detail for a bit of pizazz ($28.00). This tribal shawl ($40.00) paired nicely, and will definitely keep you warm if you plan on dining in the crisp fall air.

BONUS: If you’re not the jeans type (I rarely wear them myself), I came across this cute knit tribal mini skirt ($30.00) on my way to the dressing room. It worked perfectly with the turtleneck.

Look 3-the BANGA

This was the FIRST thing I saw immediately walking into the store. I quickly grabbed my size and kept saying to my photog boyfriend the two hours we were there that I “just had to have this.” Tried it on and it was all love.

This outfit is definitely fitting of a post dinner outing. The material is super comfortable (88% nylon, 9% modal and 5% spandex), while highlighting your best curves. Cop this look for $40.00.

Mission accomplished! Got tipsy, found my dress for our big boat outing, and unleashed the diva in me (see pic below) all in one trip!

The final look! (Accessories compliments of A Diva’s Closet. Boots from personal wardrobe, Forever 21, circa January 2014)

Stay in the loop with A Diva’s Closet on social media, they have regular deals you’ll want to be on the look out for (like their amazing 20% off pink labeled accessories tags-purchase two or more 3.00 items for 5 bucks, or 5 for 10.00)
