Black HERstory: 22 of the Best Female Musicians in the East Bay
From the days of the Black Panthers, to the #BlackLivesMatter movement rooted right here in the heart of the Bay, Oakland unequivocally reminds us all that honoring the lives, spirit and soul of African ancestry needn’t be delegated to a measly 28 days. On the ‘official’ last day of Black History month, Wear Your Voice Magazine honors 21 amazing local Black female musicians who unapologetically #WearTheirVoice 365 days out the year. Be sure to make some space in your iTunes — you’ll want to keep these artists on deck at all times.
Note: This list includes only female vocalists-with so many amazing talent in the East Bay, we had to narrow it down to a specific niche. This is part of a series of articles that will be highlighting the amazing talent of women in the Bay Area, so stay tuned into Wear Your Voice to see what we cover next!
