Last Friday was the Oakland Indie Awards, and if you missed out, I’m advising you to start retroactively kicking yourself. It was a blast, filled with attractive people all trying to out-dress each other, free (FREE) food and cheap booze, and dozens and dozens of Oakland designers and artists.
Wear Your Voice was there with Urban Stitch to raise the roof AND our voices (why yes, I AM familiar with popular phrases from a decade ago) with a live photoshoot. I was there with my first press pass ever (it really makes you feel powerful! I even tried to negotiate a free drink with it) to get a behind-the-scenes peek.
As the sun set, things started getting spicy.
At the end of the night, I was a little tipsy, a lot full of Souley Vegan sample plates (there aren’t any rules about how many times you can get back in line for more) and my feet were KILLING me. Clearly, it was a good time. Be there next year, or be square.
