Earlier this week, I began closely following Roosh V and his campaign to legalize rape on private property. Yes, you read that correctly. Somewhere, in a land not so far away… a land called Silver Spring, Maryland, to be exact… there lives a creepy rapist living with his mother, quite literally teaching other men how to rape women. A self-professed “pick up artist” or “PUA”, Roosh V and his fedora-wearing, chronic masturbating, game-less legions of Male Rights Activists – excuse me, “neomasculinists” – seek to devalue all women as nothing other than sperm receptacles that can pleasure them, feed them, and raise their children. If they do not meet their “standards,” then they are deemed useless.
Originally slated for Saturday, February 6th, Roosh V and Return of Kings had called their hordes of basement dwelling (including himself), Mountain Dew swigging troglodytes into the outdoors to join in “meeting of tribes.” (his words, not mine) Kindly, he had spared them the pain of forcing them into daylight and assigned a universal 8 pm time.
He suggests that “during peace-time, I advise tribes to meet at least twice a month on a regular schedule over coffee or drinks (e.g. every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month at 8 pm). The atmosphere will be relaxed, and you’ll be able to talk about women, politics, travel, work, or whatever else interests you. During times of crisis, however, when members are threatened due to the actions of outsiders or their own government, the tribe will be utilized to offer concrete support and defense. Hopefully, that day will never come, but odds are it will, and you need to establish relationships with men you trust before a threat arrives.”
The man has published several books chronicling his adventures as a “Gamer,” which outline many acts of rape. HE EVEN SAYS IT HIMSELF IN PUBLISHED WORKS.
While walking to my place, I realized how drunk she was. In America, having sex with her would have been rape, since she couldn’t legally give her consent. It didn’t help matters that I was relatively sober, but I can’t say I cared or even hesitated.
I won’t rationalize my actions, but having sex is what I do. If a girl is willing to walk home with me, she’s going to get the dick no matter how much she has drunk. I’ll protect myself by using a condom (most of the time), but I know that when it comes to sex, one ounce of hesitation or a feeling of morality will get me nothing.
Those words paired with a suggestion that the best way to combat rape is to LEGALIZE IT created a global outrage of people of all genders. This man is literally a sociopath and his followers are angry men feeling the acute sting of constant rejection from women across the globe. They are clinging to this man’s ideas for guidance and a sense of worth to compensate for the constant trauma of rejection and genuine loneliness. You know who else liked big meetings full of angry, disenfranchised, largely white youth? This guy right here. Even people that used to be PUA’s are denouncing Roosh V and saying that he is a dangerous person.
“I saw women wholly unconcerned with their own safety and the character of men they developed intimate relationships with. I saw women who voluntarily numbed themselves with alcohol and other drugs in social settings before letting the direction of the night’s wind determine who they would follow into a private room. I saw women who, once feeling awkward, sad, or guilty for a sexual encounter they didn’t fully remember, call upon an authority figure to resolve the problem by locking up her previous night’s lover in prison or ejecting him from school.
By attempting to teach men not to rape, what we have actually done is teach women not to care about being raped, not to protect themselves from easily preventable acts, and not to take responsibility for their actions. At the same time, we don’t hesitate to blame men for bad things that happen to them (if right now you walked into a dangerous ghetto and got robbed, you would be called an idiot and no one would say “teach ghetto kids not to steal”). It was obvious to me that the advice of our esteemed establishment writers and critics wasn’t stopping the problem, and since rape was already on the law books with severe penalties, additional laws or flyers posted on dormitory doors won’t stop this rape culture either.
I thought about this problem and am sure I have the solution: make rape legal if done on private property. I propose that we make the violent taking of a woman not punishable by law when done off public grounds.
The exception for public rape is aimed at those seedy and deranged men who randomly select their rape victims on alleys and jogging trails, but not as a mechanism to prevent those rapes, since the verdict is still out if punishment stops a committed criminal mind, but to have a way to keep them off the streets. For all other rapes, however, especially if done in a dwelling or on private property, any and all rape that happens should be completely legal.
If rape becomes legal under my proposal, a girl will protect her body in the same manner that she protects her purse and smartphone. If rape becomes legal, a girl will not enter an impaired state of mind where she can’t resist being dragged off to a bedroom with a man who she is unsure of—she’ll scream, yell, or kick at his attempt while bystanders are still around. If rape becomes legal, she will never be unchaperoned with a man she doesn’t want to sleep with. After several months of advertising this law throughout the land, rape would be virtually eliminated on the first day it is applied.”
— How To Stop Rape by Roosh V.
That’s real – those are his exact words. Roosh V actually chose to publish those thoughts, this isn’t some kind of leaked journal! Two days ago he went back on his previous statements, claiming them to be satire, but the man is no Jonathan Swift. This immodest proposal got him into hot water as he attempted to arrange face-to-face meetings across the globe with his followers. Having been met with many threats of violence, he has been forced to go back underground, claiming that they will not be meeting in person but sticking to internet meetings.
We already have Trump running for president. What happens if someone like him were to gain actual political power? It leaves space for men like Roosh V and his followers. Roosh V is merely the most visible head of the MRA-hydra; cut his head off and how many others grow in its place? Many followers are less recognizable and could indeed run for office. With a well-coded bill attaching the legalization of rape on private property to an inocuous, universally “good” idea, something like this could get passed. This is no longer an abstract idea.
Beyond his hatred of women, he has chronicled his own anti-Semitic views and anti-BLM rhetoric. As a writer, some people may be concerned about Roosh, RoK, and the similar thinking folks. His tactics are easily traceable, and he has been quoted as to how he attacks other writers as being racist so that future employers won’t touch them. Not only does this man regularly make racist statements himself, but he also makes false claims to attack those who criticize him.
“Unless she’s applying for a position at Jezebel, no respectable company will touch a toxic individual who has been linked to racism. They don’t want anyone who may cause controversy for them, and behind rape, nothing says controversy like race. …
It’s a slow-burn attack that will effectively punish these writers and scare their co-workers , whose income is low enough that they need to depend on corporate employment indefinitely, unless one day they get an original thought and can stay away from their iPhone long enough to write a book. It won’t work on the big liberal writers like Jessica Valenti or Naomi Wolf, since any attention they get just helps them sell more books, but it does work on the young girl out of college trying to win feminist brownie points by denouncing a man for being “creepy” based on a bad joke.”
All of this media attention has brought a higher profile to this megalomaniac and most likely increased his outreach significantly. How can we combat that? Well, it should not just be women that are outraged. Roosh V’s hateful vitriol extends to anyone veering outside of cis, heterosexual male identity. The key, as he has ironically shown us, is mobilization.
To call Roosh V the obvious play on names, “Douche B,” is too easy, as well as extremely sexist and inaccurate. That being said, stay with me here, a douche is something that you place inside of your vagina that has been known to cause chronic yeast infections, killing all of the healthy flora inside of your body. Roosh V is a disgusting little man who has chronicled his hatred of BIPOC, transgender, gay and lesbian, and fat people, as well as telling tales of having non-consensual sex (you know…. RAPE) with women who were far, far more intoxicated than he at the time of intercourse. I would much rather insert something inside of my vagina that is KNOWN to cause yeast infections than ever insert any part of Roosh V. Perhaps that sentiment is more commonly shared than not and fuels this man’s “need” to commit so many rapes. Luckily, I am 100% positive that our mutual disgust for one another is one of the few things that we have in common. May this scandal forever scar this man’s sex life and credibility amongst feminist and MRA’s alike and may he find himself extradited to each of the countries where he has committed rape and formally charged on each and every count. I hope that his previous victims see these headlines and choose to press charges. Maybe this media boost wasn’t such a bad thing after all.
Follow up: Roosh V called 911 because of death threats yesterday. He had to ask for a black woman officer to protect his life after spewing the most intense internet hatred towards black women. If the time comes when they do have to defend this man, may she have slow reflexes and her partner even slower.
