This week’s StyleCrush is the gorgeous model, fashion designer and blogger Nadia Aboulhosn. Originally from Orlando, Nadia moved to New York and now Los Angeles to pursue her fashion-based career. She has designed for BooHoo, Addition Elle, Rebdolls, and Lord & Taylor and has modeled in Vogue Italia, among many other magazines. While the fashion world pegs Nadia as a “plus-size” model, her shape is simply much more like the “average” person than those typically walking for big-name designers. Nadia’s portfolio and blog can be found at nadiaaboulhosn.com.
Nadia Aboulhosn Talks About What Inspired Her Journey
WYV: How do you describe your style?
Nadia: Very personal and based off emotions — it’s how I feel that day. If I feel more mellow that day I tend to wear more black and gray with more neutral warm colors like mauve. My style is basically a reflection of how I feel that day when I wake up and get dressed.
WYV: What inspired you to start modeling?
Nadia: It sort of fell into place as my blogging career took off. I really needed a way to express myself in a positive way because the direction my life was going wasn’t the greatest. I wanted something to look forward to while keeping myself busy. When I began blogging, it wasn’t so much about not seeing myself in the media because I never felt a seclusion when I began blogging. I never felt different. It wasn’t until I was in this industry and they started labeling me as different that I felt different.
WYV: Who are your three StyleCrushes?
Nadia: Rihanna, Kanye, Angelina Jolie circa ’90s.
WYV: Other than your own designs, where do you shop? Who are your favorite designers?
Nadia: I love ASOS and Topshop! My favorite designers are Balmain and Elie Saab.
WYV: How do you wear your voice?
Nadia: I wear my voice by my clothes reflecting my mood and how I feel for that day.
