To say that I love scarves is an understatement. I have a scarf collection rivaling that of my shoes and let me just say that both are equally (according to moms and pops) out of control and are showing no signs of slowing down. Scarves are perfect for any weather and there is an appropriate one for every occasion.
Show how you wear your voice by adding a little flair to your outfit, whether it be your hair, handbag, neck or waist. Payless Fashions, located at 2133 MacArthur @ Fruitvale, is a treasure trove of beautiful scarves from all over the world, unique clothing, jewelry, art and handmade items scouted and brought here by the owner. Frances, is an amazing woman who speaks seven different languages and can regale you with stories of how she came across each piece in her store. Calling Payless Fashions a thrift shop would not be doing it justice. Some things are new, most are used and you cannot leave this place without feeling as if you’ve left with SO much more than just your purchase. And you definitely will never forget Frances!
I left after this trip with seven beautiful scarves for only $25! Here are a few ways I plan on wearing them :-).
To achieve this look:
1. Loop the scarf under all of your hair and hold both ends straight up.
2. Cross the two ends to the opposite side so they come together at the center of your head.
3. Twist the whole shabang clockwise to create the peak.
4. Pull tightly and tie the loose ends in a bow or knot under your hair at the nape of your neck.
The “MEDIEVAL PRINCESS”
The “YOUTHFUL AND FERTILE”
The “PUERTO RICAN DIME”
The “I JUST WAKE UP AND GO”
The “Sock Hop” neck tie.
and throw one of moderate to small size on your purse for some color.
