Merry Christmas, dear readers! I upped my budget for Thrifting Thursday this week because it’s Christmas and I deserve a nice present. So I went to one of my favorite Oakland consignment shops with $35 in my pocket. Read on to learn about the fabulousness of Knimble on Grand Ave.
Knimble is a consignment shop and local designer hub under one roof. The first floor features intricate displays of locally made beauty and bath products and locally designed jewelry. The sales staff are friendly, helpful and have great style. The shop is spacious and the atmosphere is laid-back and cool. With the speakers playing M. Ward and Bird and the Bee, I felt like I was listening to my own iPod at home.
I treated myself to $11.99 lightning bolt earrings from San Leandro laser-cut jewelery company Unpossible Cuts. These funky, affordable earrings come in whimsical and unique shapes. Fun fact: It was just fifteen months ago that Knimble started my earring addiction with a beautiful pair of sterling silver feathers. My ears have been thrilled ever since. Knimble is a great place to treat yourself to earrings, most pairs range from $10-25.
The second floor is nearly overflowing with beautiful recycled clothes for you to peruse. The clothes are organized by size and type, which makes shopping so much easier. The beautifully draped dressing rooms are spacious and gorgeously decorated. You can sell clothes from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. for 35% of the Knimble value or trade for 50% store credit. I’ll definitely be back soon with a bag of clothes I hope to trade for store credit.
Here’s my big holiday splurge from Knimble! These Steve Madden shoes make me swoon so hard I almost fell over. Thankfully they’re flats so there was no real risk of tripping. They are my size, they are sexy, they are strappy and they were $22. My feet are so excited about their snazzy red holiday gift. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy New Year and happy thrifting!
Knimble is located at 3258 Grand Ave. in Oakland and is open every day from 11 a.m.- 7 p.m.
