I have a rule with clothing. You must wear it once a year – or it gets donated… Dun Dunn Dunnnnnnn!
This past weekend was the annual: Parting-of-the-clothing. A spring cleaning if you will. I touch every piece of clothing I own (scarves and accessories included), and ask myself: have I worn this in the past year?
This year was especially hard because I decided this was the year I needed to get rid of all the clothing I’d been trying to save to sell on Etsy, Ebay, etc. and just (take a cue from Frozen) and let it go. I didn’t even bother going to Buffalo or Pretty Penny! If I’d been keeping it for a year and promising myself I’d do something with it – and hadn’t yet – someone else deserves it. On that note: you will find some particularly amazing items coming out of Savers on University over the next few weeks…
I encourage you to do the same. Take a look around at the items in your closet (or in piles on the floor of your closet) and ask yourself: Have I worn this in the past year? Is it missing a button that I haven’t bothered to fix in 6 months or more? Has my cat made a nest in it? Does it “fit” me, but merely in the definition of “fit” where I can only wear it for 30 seconds or less in my bedroom mirror? If any the aforementioned apply – it’s time to part with it. Don’t think – just do it. Please give to your local Out Of The Closet or Savers – your closet will thank me for it <3

P.S. Hey Friends! If you happen to be out in San Francisco Friday, March 6th. My partner, Justin DeVine and I have an art opening for our collection: Chimera. We each paint half of each painting, combining styles and brush stroke to make a new creation: a chimera of sorts. The opening reception is Friday, from 6-8pm at Paxton Gate’s Curiosities for Kids in the Mission
