BRUJAS_1200x1200_IG1
“You’ve heard the term bitch before, but have you heard the word Bruja??”
Local rappers, MADlines and Chhoti Maa have teamed up to put on one of the most highly anticipated events of this season!
THE BRUJAS YOU COULDN’T KILL
First,
What is a Bruja?

Bruja literally means witch, but this word is often used as an insult, suggesting evil or bitchy behavior…this comes from colonization and machismo.  For many years, the word Bruja was used to belittle, vilify and delegitimize traditional womyn healers and doctors.

Today, we use the word Bruja to challenge that colonial covering, to unearth and revitalize our connection to our Grandma healer ancestors who guide us and pass down sacred knowledge.
–  Chhoti Maa

Why we celebrate our survival?
Our brujeria is all connected in its generations of African, Caribbean, and Latin American Black/Brown resistance. We name that space and reclaim our power, medicine, and healing through music, arts, gathering, and collective power as bruja healers!
Dance the night away with DJs, Vendors, Music and Brujeria.
