Elsa 4 Sansa?

“Femme witch for femme witch. Must like sparkles, cuddles and magical evenings by the fire. Bonus points if you like cold weather, enchanted snowmen, and can appreciate/respect complex family dynamics and sisterly bonds.”

Disney’s Frozen is a somewhat progressive (for Disney) story that focuses on the love between two sisters, instead of the stereotypical princess and prince.

But some see Elsa’s struggle to “let it go” as a complex story about coming out, which has been neither confirmed nor denied. As a result, a recent social media frenzy to #GiveElsaAGirlfriend has swept Twitter. Rumors are circulating that Frozen 2 will highlight gay themes. Even Idina Menzel, the voice of Elsa, supports the idea!

According to Forbes, “Disney’s 2013 hit Frozen grossed $1.3 billion at the box office — and perhaps as much in licensing merchandise.” Plenty of that came from LGBTQIA fans, and it’s plain to see that Disney loves its rainbow money. It makes lots of dough from its “Gay Days” at Disney World and Disneyland, as well as from their LGBTQIA fans’ love for the films and merchandise. The question is: are they prepared to give those same voices representation?

It’s important to remember that kids are queer and trans, too. When children see themselves represented, they excel.

Meanwhile, we hear that Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner wants her character, Sansa Stark, to end up with a female partner. Fiery temperments, royal heritage, used to cold northern climates and enchanted snow creatures (for better or worse) … they could make for a great pair. Might have to contend with Margaery, though, or simply join together for one powerful poly triad. Just wait for the fan fic to start rolling in.

Okay, maybe not everyone is into the idea.
