I’m back, my gorgeous readers! Did ya miss me? (Unintentionally creepy sounding)

Welp…this was going to be a super fun and witty article about what happens when you give a beauty junkie a Sephora gift card. However, what I purchased with said gift cards catapulted me into a different direction and sent me on… THE NEVER-ENDING QUEST FOR THE PERFECT FOUNDATION DUN-DUN-DUUUUN.

Intense.

It’s a tale full of woes…such as mismatched tones, breakouts, shitty consistencies, and the dreaded foundation-darker-than-my-neck disparities. It all began when I rolled into Sephora with the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup (seriously…could that name get any longer, my God) on my mind. I was quickly (a little too quickly) matched with a shade, easily convinced to also buy the Good Karma Optical Blurring Brush for flawless application and walked home with a pep in my step because I was so stoked. The next day, as I was applying…I was very pleased! When applying in circular motions with the blurring brush, I watched my blemishes and scars disappear! I was amazed! Then I saw my face in the real world, checked with some trustworthy people and became very embarrassed. Once again, Sephora matched me too dark and I looked just slightly better than an Oompa Loompa.

I marched back to Sephora and got matched with the perfect shade. That, of course, was sold out. I demanded samples! POLITELY DEMANDED. So then I gave those a shot for a couple days and found that, without fail, after a full day of wearing it I came home with at least 2-3 whiteheads. Ew. So gross. Ew ew ew. Wah. So disappointing. Wah wah wah.

I marched over to Nordstrom to the Laura Mercier counter with high hopes. I love the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer, why wouldn’t I also love the Laura Mercier Oil Free Supreme Foundation, right? WRONG. The color matched. Great. Woohoo. Didn’t breakout. That’s something, I guess. But, it was the worst foundation I’ve ever used. It was cakey. It didn’t blend well at all. It dried out my skin. And it was forty-five friggin’ bucks, sooo…I’m not made of money, Laura Mercier.

I effin’ marched back to the Laura Mercier counter at Nordstrom and said, “HEY! THIS STUFF SUCKS.” I came prepared with plan B’s and plan C’s. My plan B was Laura Mercier’s Silk Creme Foundation. But the the limited shade selection left me looking elsewhere…and then, suddenly, a light from the heavens shone on…

Clinique Stay-Matte Oil Free Makeup, $23

Clinique Stay-Matte Oil Free Makeup, $23

Clinique’s Stay-Matte Oil-Free Makeup! Cue heavenly choir of angels. This foundation matched my skin tone perfectly, it went on smoothly, blended incredibly well and stayed matte all day. So, not only did I pick a great foundation in general, but it’ll be a great summer foundation as well! Since I’ve started using this foundation, I haven’t broken out once. NOT A SINGLE ZIT, Y’ALL. Clinique convert right here.

OH! And paired with Benefit’s The POREfessional Primer, you’ll be unstoppable. Take my word for it.

Now, I’d like to give a big ol’  shout out to my biggest fans/enablers of my beauty addiction – Thanks mom & dad, Auntie Jen & Uncle Scott, and Grandma for the birthday gift cards that I used to feed my addiction. And thanks Papa Joe, Daydee and Uncle Zen for enabling my fashion addiction.

What’s your favorite foundation? TELL MEEE.
