I guess I picked a bit of a rainy and overcast weekend to write about my current beauty obsessions…because they also happen to be great products for summer…maybe it’s my subconscious trying to cope with the weather. Ugh. I sound like such typical Californian being a huge baby about the weather.

Not Yo Mamma's Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray ($6, CVS)

Not Yo Mamma’s Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray ($6, CVS)

Goddamnit, anyway. Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray. I am so out-of-my-mind psyched about this surf spray! It is AH-MAZING. I have tried sooo many surf sprays in my quest for the perfect beach hair/bed head and Not Your Mother’s is by far the best. It has this yummy coconut-ee/vanilla-ee/spicy-ee smell that’s pretty much irresistible. When I get out of the shower, I towel off my hair, spray on the surf spray, put my damp hair up in a top-knot, then spray the bun with more surf spray. I go through my makeup routine with my hair like this and when I’m finished, I take my hair down and blowdry it on low (it takes a while) flipping it all to the left side and right side every couple minutes. It’s quite the routine. But, after all that, my hair is messy and wavy and beachy. Just the way I like it.

Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer ($43, Nordstrom) and Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage ($32, Nordstrom)

Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer ($43, Nordstrom) and Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage ($32, Nordstrom)

Here’s what I definitely do not like to be imperfect: my skin. This is unfortunate because…ugh adult acne is alive and well on my face. Cuuuute. Recently, after my Dermo took a looksy and basically said, “Woooah, clogged pores much”, I decided to shake up my foundation situation. So, I marched over to the Laura Mercier counter at Nordstrom and got hooked up with some quality shit: Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer and Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage . The tinted moisturizer feels so light, doesn’t sit uncomfortably on top of your skin, and offers build-able coverage, but doesn’t exceed medium coverage.  That’s where the secret camo concealer comes in. The skin tone on our face usually isn’t the same from one area to the next. This two-in-one concealer gives you two shades to mix (with a concealer brush) to match each area of your face. The combination of these two products is a match (foundation pun absolutely intended ughhh boo) made in heaven. Time to swap out that heavy winter foundation for this lightweight summer stunner.

Rimmel ScandalEyes Retro Glam Mascara ($7, CVS)

Rimmel ScandalEyes Retro Glam Mascara ($7, CVS)

Welp…I’ve got a new favorite mascara again. Since the first time I wore mascara, it feels like I’ve been on this never-ending journey to find the perfect one. And every couple months when I try a new mascara, I swear that one is the closest to perfect. This round’s closest to perfect mascara is Rimmel ScandalEyes Retro Glam Mascara. So much volume. So much length! Only takes two coats of this mascara for sky high lashes. This mascara doesn’t flake and doesn’t smear onto my eyelid when I sweat or get oily (take that summer). Give it a shot. You won’t be sorry!

Albeit Nourishing Rose Lip Balm ($12, Anthropologie)

Albeit Nourishing Rose Lip Balm ($12, Anthropologie)

Speaking of new makeup loves…I have fallen head-over-heels, y’all…with Albeit’s Nourishing Rose Lip Balm. GODDAMN. It’s a lip balm and a lip gloss all in one. It goes on smooth, smells faintly of roses, is very glossy, and has an adorable petal pink tint (a classic spring/summer look). Also, a huuuge plus for me, it lasts for hours. It literally (and I mean literally) sits on my lips, nourishing the hell out of ’em, bein’ all pretty and shiny for hours. The longest I’ve gone before needing to reapply was three hours. You’re so impressed, I know. I loved it so much when I first tried it, I bought two of these delightful little pots on the spot.

Heritage Store Rosewater ($9, Whole Foods and drugstore.com)

And lastly, while I’m on a rose kick, nothing is fresher after a hot shower than Heritage Store Rosewater. After my moisturizer and sunscreen, I spritz my face, neck and chest generously with the rosewater. It cools me down and calms me down. A cooling mist with the comforting smell of roses helps get my day off to a good start! Maybe you’ll have the same luck!
