Coldwell Banker real estate agent Titi Pierce

Coldwell Banker real estate agent Titi Pierce is suing Ellen Degeneres for joking about her name.

Titi Pierce, a real estate agent from Warner Robins, Georgia, is suing Ellen DeGeneres — the comedian behind the voice of Dory the fish from the Disney franchise, “Finding Nemo.”

On February 22, Pierce, who is also an engineer, appeared on DeGeneres’ show, “Ellen,” in a segment titled “What’s Wrong With These Signs.” Asked by DeGeneres to pronounce her name, Pierce responds “Tee tee” to which DeGeneres — sensing an opportunity for a joke — returned “titty.” DeGeneres coupled this with poking fun at Pierces breasts.

In her complaint, Pierce states that “in all her 35 years of life” no one has ever mistakenly called her “Titty.” She also pointed out that the show failed to blur her cell number, which was listed on her business sign. As a consequence, “hundreds” viewers began calling her, even phoning while she was attending a funeral.

Pierce did not take legal action immediately. She reached out to showrunners to inform them of the errors. They re-aired the same show on April 15th.

This isn’t the first instance where DeGeneres’ penchant for making racy, borderline racist and tasteless jokes has incited backlash. Take a look at three more times DeGeneres caught heat for coming off racist:

That time Ellen offended black people when she portrayed rapper Nicki Minaj in a sketch on her show and BET clapped back with this tweet:

Ellen_Nicki_Minaj_WYV

That time during the 2012 World Cup when Ellen made the African state of Ghana feel infinitesimally tiny in one tweet.

That time on her show when Ellen consciously but unconsciously swapped “American” language with “English” language and butchered the shit out of Chinese people’s names and had a good time doing it with her audience.

And this is the same white woman who praised “12 Years A Slave” and spoke out against “academy racism”¬†at last year’s Oscar ceremony. Uh huh. Yeah. Sure.
